Information for experienced climbers.

You must be an experienced climber age 18 or over to climb at Big Rock unsupervised. Under 18s must be supervised by a competent registered adult. You can read our full registration policies HERE.

Opened in 2018, Big Rock Bond in Bletchley brings the very latest in climbing wall design to Milton Keynes and provides one of the UK’s best indoor climbing experiences, with state-of-the-art climbing and training facilities.

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy climbing regardless of age or ability, and like Big Rock Hub in Kingston, Big Rock Bond is designed around this premise. The centre features a huge variety of roped climbing and bouldering covering all levels of difficulty, and also includes extensive training facilities to cater for more advanced conditioning.

Yes. Experienced climbers age 18+ must register before using the bouldering or roped climbing walls. Registration is free and includes reading our conditions of use and completing a registration form declaring your basic competence and a willingness to accept responsibility for yourself and anyone you are supervising. A full range of climbing equipment is available for hire including:

Climbing shoes (sizes child 7 to adult 14)
Harnesses (adult waist or child full body)
Belay plates (with karabiner)
Helmet

Please note that ropes are in position for top roping but not for leading. We do not hire lead climbing ropes. All lead routes are equipped with quickdraws.

You will need a minimum 30m rope to attempt our longest routes.

Supervising adults who are not climbing will have free entry during weekday daytime sessions and at weekends (but you will be required to check-in). However, this will not be the case at our peak times, (weekday evenings after 5:30), where we expect to reach full capacity.

No. Visiting with friends or family but not climbing, or just fancy having a look around? Spectators are free to relax in the seating area overlooking the climbing walls and can enjoy a selection of drinks, snacks and meals from our café. Spectators must not enter the designated climbing areas.

Experienced climbers often like to introduce friends to climbing, which we accept, but we also recognise that there are inherent risks. We therefore have a clear policy to minimise these risks:

  1. Registered adult climbers may sign in no more than two guests, who may be novices or U18s.
  2. By signing in a guest, you are accepting responsibility for the full and constant supervision of your guest(s) while on the premises. We specifically warn that if you wish to teach a novice to belay you ensure that it is done in a way that is appropriate and puts no other wall users at risk. Big Rock Bond is open 7 days a week all year except 24, 25 and 26 December. Current opening times can be found on the website footer, at the bottom of the page.

Yes. The café at Big Rock Bond is open to anyone irrespective of whether they wish to use the climbing facilities. Our café offers a superb range of hot and cold drinks, snacks and meals served throughout the day, with seating overlooking the climbing areas.

Roped climbing.

  • Multi-faceted climbing walls up to 10m high with 100+ routes.

  • Free-standing central island feature with an overhang of 3m.

  • Vertical and less steep walls for more technical roped climbing.

  • 4 route lines with Trublue auto belay units.

Bouldering.

  • Large open-plan bouldering including a freestanding top-out boulder.

  • All styles covered from tenuous slabs to overhanging roofs.

  • Large competition wall with good visibility for competitors and spectators.

  • Colour coded circuits with 11 different grade bands and over 100 problems.

  • Regular guest setting by some of the UK’s finest setting talent.

Training.

  • Training board. Adjustable between 30-60 degrees.

  • Circuit board. Adjustable between 15-45 degrees.

  • Campus boards. 10 rungs with Metolius small/medium/large options.

  • Beast Maker 1000 and 2000 finger boards.

The standard entry charges listed are for registered adult climbers or under 18s/novices being signed in by a registered adult climber. Not registered? Please read our REGISTRATION information. Registration is free and is mandatory if you wish to use Big Rock. If you have little or no climbing experience, please refer to our GETTING STARTED section. Please note: We no longer accept cash as payment in the centres.

If you want to climb regularly, our 5 and 10 entry pass deals (valid for 12 months) allow reduced rate entry on any day and at any time for a total of 5 or 10 visits with an advance payment, while our 1 Month Pass allows unlimited use of the centres.
